Troubleshooting Guide

If you have a problem with a machine you have purchased please look through the Troubleshooting Guide below to see if you can easily remedy the fault before contacting us. Should you not find the answer to your problem here please contact us via the Support Form.

  • No Power To Machine

    • Check power cord is plugged in properly.
    • Check power is turned on at plug and at machine (on/off switch).
    • Check Fuse in plug and at power connection on machine.
  • Machine not heating up

    • Check power to machine (as above).
    • Leave machine on for a few minutes longer than instructions indicate.
    • Try a different heat setting (where available).
    • Press and hold reverse button to ensure that there is no material jammed.
    • Check the ‘Set’ button.
  • Pouch getting stuck in machine

    There are four main causes:

    • If low quality pouches have been used or the machine has not been regularly cleaned, excess glue could have built up on the roller.
    • The temperature setting may be too high.
    • Using a pouch that exceeds the maximum thickness specified for the machine.
    • The pouch may have mis-fed.
    • Irregular shaped items have been laminated without the use of the Expert Pouch Jacket.
    • The laminating pouch is half empty and the Expert Pouch Jacket has not been used.
    • If the document has an end outside the laminator, hold the reverse button down for at least 20 seconds. When the lamination starts to come out of the machine, gently pull the material whilst still holding the reverse button down. (Never force it as it could damage the rollers). If the document is retrieved run a sheet of white cardboard through the laminator 2 or 3 times to absorb any pouch residue that may be left on the rollers.
    • Check the settings on the machine are correct for the pouch thickness.
    • Check the pouch thickness does not exceed the maximum thickness for the machine.
    • Ensure that the contents have been placed inside the pouch correctly, that the pouch is not cut down to size, and that all pouches are fed into the machine pre-sealed edge first.
    • If you are not able to remove a stuck pouch then please contact us via the Support Form.
  • Laminator is smoking

    • The main cause of this is due to the machine being jammed.
    • Switch the machine to cold and ensure that the machine is in a well-ventilated area.
    • Please follow steps as above to remove the jammed material.
  • Lamination has a wavy appearance

    • Temperature is too hot. Check the setting is correct for the pouch being used.
    • For machines with variable temperature settings, switch to a lower pouch setting or turn the temperature down and wait for the ready light to indicate correct temperature has been reached.
    • If you can’t vary the machine settings, try using a thicker pouch.
  • Bubbles appear / Lamination looks cloudy

    • Temperature is not hot enough. Check the setting is correct for the pouch being used.
    • For machines with variable temperature settings, switch to a higher pouch setting or turn the temperature up and wait for the ready light to indicate correct temperature has been reached.
    • For thicker documents, you may need to change to a thinner pouch.
  • Document curls after laminating

    • Ensure the document is removed from the machine as soon as lamination is complete.
    • Leave document on a flat surface to cool before handling.
  • Rollers appear to be dirty

    • Please run white card (between 160 – 300gsm) through the machine to absorb any residue on the rollers.
    • Repeat process until rollers appear clean.
